Introduction to Gifted Education Professional Development
One of the roles of the AIG program in Onslow County is to equip our classroom teachers to meet the diverse needs of AIG students. We recognize that the majority of school time, AIG students are with their classroom teacher. For this reason, we feel it is vitally important to provide classroom teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to work with gifted students.
This professional development, Introduction to Gifted Education, is not meant to be a college level course. However, we do seek to explore the characteristics of gifted learner and how to recognize and identify giftedness in students.
The course is meant to be the first in a series of three. The other two courses delve more deeply into differentiation, social-emotional needs of gifted learners, and co-teaching.
