Differentiation for the Gifted Learner in the Regular Classroom
One of the roles of the AIG program in Onslow County is to equip our classroom teachers to meet the diverse needs of AIG students. We recognize that the majority of school time, AIG students are with their classroom teacher. For this reason, we feel it is vitally important to provide classroom teachers with the knowledge and skills they need to work with gifted students.
This professional development, Differentiation for the Classroom Teacher, is not meant to be a college level course. However, we do seek to explore several strategies that can be used to differentiate the curriculum for gifted learners. We always remember that differentiation is a mind set and not a set of strategies or "something that we do."
The course is meant to be the second in a series of three. The third course explores the social-emotional needs of gifted learners, and co-teaching. We also offer a course in Introduction to Gifted Education.
