AIG Licensure and AIG Local Certificate
Standard 3D of the North Carolina AIG Program Standards states that a quality AIG program, "Places AIG students in classrooms with teachers who have met the LEA’s professional development requirements for that position or have earned an AIG add-on license."
An AIG Add-on License may only be earned through successfully completing AIG coursework through a university. Many universities offer this series of courses and some are beginning to pursue making AIG a Master's Degree for those people interested.
As the Onslow County AIG program, we have worked to support cohorts of teachers in achieving add-on licensure. These cohorts work through East Carolina University and begin each summer. If you are interested, we typically have an informational meeting in December or January of each year.
